Empowering Leadership in Diverse Environments
My leadership journey began in 2007 when I became the lead pastor of a small church in rural Ohio. It was there that I found John Maxwell's leadership books. With his help through books like the 15 Laws of Personal Growth and Everyone Communicates, Few Connect, I learned how to build relationships with the people I led and foster an environment of leadership and growth.
It was during that time that I also began learning how to lead diverse teams in a very personal way. In the same year I started pastoring, I married my wife of over 17-years. Ana Marisol is from Mexico, and immediately we faced the challenge of helping everyone form a united team driving towards the same goal with an American pastor and a Mexican co-pastor—two leaders from two vastly different cultures!
Multicultural leadership is all about creating environments where personal growth is encouraged and diverse perspectives are celebrated.

In 2013, Marisol and I took a leadership role at Christ For The Nations, an international ministry school with over 300 employees on an 81-acre urban campus in South Dallas. There, I was privileged to lead a group with team members from places as diverse as South Africa, Mexico, Russia, and Cuba. There, I continued to apply the Maxwell leadership principles, yet I was learning how to do so successfully in a diverse, multicultural environment.
In 2017, my family and I moved to Monterrey, Mexico, a thriving city of 9 million people just three hours south of the Texas border. Here, we have been privileged to lead and teach in a school composed of students from all over Mexico, the United States, Germany, Japan, Guatemala, and Cambodia.
As a bilingual leadership coach, teacher, and speaker, I enjoy leading and training teams in this incredibly diverse, cosmopolitan environment. All along, John Maxwell's resources have been essential to my personal and professional growth. That's why I am a part of the Maxwell Leadership Team of independent coaches.
